Learners see how an unclear request creates confusion in an everyday workplace interaction.
Workplace communication can break down even when a message seems straightforward. Vague requests, unclear deadlines, and missing context can leave employees unsure of what action to take.
The challenge was to create a concise learning experience that went beyond explaining effective communication. Learners needed to see how ambiguity affects a realistic workplace interaction, recognize what a message ineffective, and apply strategies for making communication clear and actionable.
I designed a short animated microlearning experience that places learners inside a realistic workplace communication breakdown. Rather than beginning with communication rules, the experience first allows learners to see the consequences of an unclear message.
The lesson then guides learners through three strategies: being specific, setting a clear deadline, and inviting clarification, before asking them to identify the most effective message in a new scenario. Immediate feedback reinforces why the strongest response works.
Learners compare an unclear message with a revised version that models specific, actionable communication.
The experience opens with a familiar workplace interaction rather than a definition, allowing learners to recognize the communication problem before being taught the solution.
Character animation, dialogue, facial expressions, and voiceover bring the communication breakdown to life and demonstrate how ambiguity affects the person receiving the message.
Learners analyze the ineffective message, see it rewritten using three communication strategies, and then apply those strategies to a new scenario with immediate feedback.
I used character actions and facial expressions to show Alice's reaction to an unclear request. Coordinating her movements with the dialogue helped turn a communication concept into a realistic workplace moment.
Text-to-speech narration, dialogue, and carefully timed visual elements guide learners through the scenario without overwhelming the screen. Animation and narration were sequenced to keep attention focused on the key message.
The experience moves intentionally from scenario to analysis, modeling, and practice. Each scene builds on the previous one, creating a short learning experience with a clear beginning, application point, and conclusion.
The final product is a concise animated microlearning experience that transforms an everyday communication breakdown into an opportunity for practice. Learners see the consequences of an unclear message, examine a stronger approach, and apply the strategy in a new scenario with immediate feedback.
The project demonstrates my ability to combine instructional strategy, visual storytelling, animation, voiceover, and active practice to create a focused behavior-based learning experience.
